Avalon is a classic harbor stop on the California coast. Unfortunately it has become a little to commercialized with tourist oriented businesses so for those trying to get away from it all this might be a port to skip.
After this weak review I have a lot of attractive shots from in and around Avalon so you can be the judge. For those planning to visit for the first time by boat a little helpful advice. As you pull up to a mooring grab the antenna on the float by the mooring and bring it aboard. Tie the line to the line from the mooring to the bow cleat and take the other line from the float back to the stern cleat. You can drive between the boats as long as there is clearance because the mooring lines are weighted and drop off very steeply. Enjoy the view.
